Disaster Planning for Animals
Kansas City is in the heartland of tornadoes and floods. The NMHP In KC meeting on Nov ll, 2003 addressed this critical issue and the 80+ people who attended learned what to do in case disaster strikes.

The Shawnee Emergency Animal Response Team (SEART) and the Midwest Response Team gave a very imformative presentation with lots of interesting first hand stories and graphic images relating to pet preparedness and disaster relief.

Have you ever tried to herd and wrestle with several frightened emus in knee deep mud after a flood?

Or, have you had the precarious task of rescuing cats and dogs from a teetering house after a tornado?

These are some of the situations that SEART and Midwest Response Team have dealt with. They are an amazing group of talented, trained, and experienced professionals who are passionate about disaster relief for animals. They are currently working with Kansas and Missouri governmental agencies on a comprehensive Disaster Plan for Animals. The first ever for Kansas City!
